Confession: My mom bought me a juicer after Christmas (big $9 clearance item at Fred Meyer), and it’s basically changed our lives. Mostly, because we use it to juice fresh oranges and grapefruit to make martinis. (just a tiny splash of booze for me). My husband looks extra manly drinking his pink drinks out of our fancy martini glasses.
Other than copious amounts of juice, we kicked off the new year with a couple of big milestones for our boys.
Lukey tried a bite of bananas:
He loved sitting in Jack’s chair, which I think is actually quickly becoming his chair, and getting all kinds of cheering and clapping every time he opened his mouth.
At two days shy of his six-months, it just doesn’t seem possible, half a year has already gone by. Other big stuff for our little boy, is that first step towards mobility…rolling over. He’s also sitting pretty well, and I swear is starting to teeth. (Although, I thought Jack was teething for about 4 months before it actually happened, so who knows).
And speaking of Jack…poor kid got his first bad haircut.
Just looking at this picture brings back tragic memories from my childhood, namely the great bull-cut perm disaster of second grade and the most unfortunate ‘pixie’ cut from my freshman year of college. (yes, college).
It happens to everyone eventually. Thankfully, we were able to take him back and get the terribly uneven layers cleaned up. So, now it’s even shorter and his luscious curls are gone for the time being, but at least it’s even.
And finally, we rang in the new year with the evolution of a new game. It requires holding a baseball glove and catching a football. According to Jack, it’s the best of both worlds from the two sports.
Pretty fun huh? Rem likes this game too.

Arthur is enjoying oatmeal. He hasn’t taken to bananas yet and for that matter, prunes!
Love the game–Ian is learning about throwing a football with daddy. Prime playing time is right as I yearn to put the kid down for the night. If I don’t give in to his request to play quarterback, tears start crawling down red cheeks. Guess who wins?
Happy New Year!
Luke’s smile is the best!
Ahh..bad haircuts…what was it about second grade and permed hair? The short/butch cut didn’t work our for me either. All these memories, I might need a martini, no tiny splash for me though!
Oh yes, the pixie cut…I remember that! And I think that Jacks hair is cute, and I love the nickname “Luckey”
Lukey I mean
