Today was the big day today.
After talking up school for at least 4 or 5 months, the day finally arrived. Typically a bit shy of new situations, we weren’t sure how Jack would do in his new classroom. But our confidant happy boy walked in there like he owned the place. He zoned in on the play dough table and set up shop, he made a quick side trip to check out the fish tank and to push a few trucks along the Lego table and then it was back to the play dough. His buddy Jillian was there and I think the camaraderie of a buddy made all the difference in the world.
Aaron and I hung around waiting for the crying to start, but it never did, so we finally ducked out. I walked the aisles at Target throwing diapers and ziplock bags into my cart watching the clock waiting for when I could rush back to check on our boy.
I waited uneasily in the pick up line wondering if I would see a tear-streaked boy, but I was greeted with big smiles and a ’star student’ sticker on his shirt. We had a picnic at the park with friends and came home for naps.
I don’t think we could have hoped for a better first day.
Now, if I could have gotten a few more ‘first-day’ pictures.

Jack looks so grown up. Love it!!
Way to go Jack and mom! The first day of school is a really big deal for both of you!
