Bullet Points

Whenever I take a bit of an unintentional break from blogging, it’s always so hard to jump back in for some reason. Not that I don’t love having this space to document our life but it gets hard to choose what to put here.

Anyway, how about some quick updates?

  • Teeth. Three in four days. Need I say more? At 10.5 months, I was starting to wonder if Jack was ever going to get teeth, but no worries here. His bottom right and two top teeth have cut through and his other bottom tooth is emerging. He is snotty, slightly feverish, cranky and chewing on everything.
  • Jack seems to have a bit of reactive airway symdrome/asthma. We had hoped that the June incident where he needed breathing treatments was going to be a one-time fluke, but we’ve had to do treatments again and so our doctor reccomended we go ahead and get a nebulizer machine for our home. Poor kid, he inherited my sinuses, which means his head fills easily which then triggers coughing and wheezing. We haven’t actually needed to do breathing treatments yet, but I feel better having the medicine at the house in case we go down that road again.
  • Speaking of sick, thanks to daycare or maybe the subtle shift in weather, we have all had colds at our house. Nothing major other than a lot of annoyance, but I’m ready to breathe and taste food again. Everyone keeps reminding me that the little bit of time Jack spends at daycare is really good for his immune system, but I would like to get through the ‘catch everything’ phase quickly. I’m not totally convinced its worth dealing with all the snot.
  • My parents were here this week and we checked several major projects off our list. In five days, we got Jack’s bedroom painted, bought dressers and nightstands for our bedroom (still need to be put together), installed lighting in our kitchen, cleaned out front flower beds including ripping out some huge sick bushes and replanting with a few grasses/plants and finally, fixing the bookcases in the living room so that all the shelves are even and level so they can be filled with books. Not bad huh? My camera battery is dead, but I’ll post pictures this week.
  • And finally, a quick recipe:

Grilled chicken pesto pizza

Take a pre-made whole wheat pizza crust and spread liberally with your favorite jarred pesto. Top with grilled chicken, roasted red peppers (should be able to find in your local grocery store, I bought ours at Trader Jo’s), fresh mozzarella and sauteed onion. I also sprinkled the entire pizza including the crust with a dusting of Parmesan. Bake at 450 degree  for about 15 minutes. We also made a margarita pizza so I had some chopped basil and I sprinkled that on the pizza after it was done baking. This was an easy, filling, absolutely delicious dinner. Try it! Jack really liked it except for the red peppers. He ate a bite and then pulled it out of his mouth.
