This Was Mother’s Day

These two:

Those boys. I love them. Like really really love them; like them, never get sick of them…LOVE them. It might be hormones or it might just be they really are that great.

Our day was spent in the sun and dirt; a whole day outside. Happy laughing toddler. Rambunctious dogs. Lemonade and good friends. Loving grandparents. Freshly watered grass, a garden taking shape, dirt under the fingernails.

A really good day.

Oh…and this:

My mom has a bit of a obcession with white cake. She’s been on a life-long quest to recreate/taste a perfect rendition of the cakes her grandmother used to make. After bombing on her birthday cake, I decided to whip out the kitchenaid and try again. We haven’t found that perfect recipe yet, but this one was good. So very good.

So that was my mother’s day. Simple, relaxing, a bit of spoiling thrown in and a few of the people I love the most. I can’t ask for more than that.
